I was on my way to a photography workshop meet-up in CBD Melbourne. It was a light painting workshop, by the way, and I will write an article about it soon, as well. I used the public transport as usual, so I was a little early. As I was wandering around the gardens and looking for photographic opportunities, I come across with a lovely lady, with long grey hair, and cool tattoos. She was up to something with her mobile phone and I thought probably she is resting after a bike ride. I hesitated to disturb her at first and went on walking through gardens, took some other shots. On my way back she was still there and I kindly asked her if I could take her pictures.
If she was not there the second time, probably I would be upset for missing those images. People in Melbourne are mostly so nice and friendly. Just a few of them kindly refused to participate in my street photography practices. So, I learned that if they are not in a hurry or into something else, no need to be shy.
I just took a couple of shots, thats why I tried some effects later. I tried Black & White at first, but I could not get the feeling that I wished to get from her silver hair. What is more the pink tones were so beautiful, too. At the end I tried a little desaturation to keep the silver and pink tones, and added some vintage look to the photo.
I gave her my card, that if she would like, she can e-mail me for a copy of the photos. She did and finally I found the chance to share the photos with her. I hope that we meet sometime and I can take her photos again.
